In the village of Buzău, during the reign of the Gothic King Athanaric, Sava openly confessed his Christian faith, defying the pagan rituals imposed upon his people. The Goths tortured him, dragging him bound behind a chariot. Despite the pain, Sava did not deny Christ. Enraged, the king's soldiers drowned him in the river Mousaios (now Buzău River). Sava embraced martyrdom, becoming a beacon of faith for others.

Holy Martyr Sava, intercede with Christ our God that we may be granted strength to remain steadfast in our faith.
