Niphon, a monk from Mount Athos, reluctantly accepted the Patriarchate of Constantinople. Known for his strict asceticism and spiritual insight, he fearlessly confronted Emperor Andronicus II Palaiologos over his immoral life. Niphon prophesied the Emperor's downfall and refused to concelebrate the Divine Liturgy with him until he repented. Despite facing exile and hardship, Niphon remained steadfast in his faith, eventually returning to Athos where he peacefully reposed. Pray that Niphon’s courage inspires us to uphold righteousness, even in the face of adversity.
