St. Andrew, brother of St. Peter, preached the Gospel far and wide. He traveled to Scythia, modern-day Ukraine, and along the Black Sea, spreading the word of Christ. Tradition says he established the Church in Byzantium (Constantinople) and was eventually martyred in Patras, Greece, crucified on an X-shaped cross.

O, Apostle Andrew, pray to God for us, that we may be strengthened in our faith and spread His love to all!
