Martyr John the Valah, a Romanian Christian living in Wallachia, refused to convert to Islam in 1662 when captured by Tatars and sold to a Turkish master. Despite temptations and threats, John remained steadfast in his faith, openly confessing Christ. Enraged, his master had him tortured and ultimately beheaded for his unwavering devotion.
