In 1683, as Turkish troops threatened Vienna, Metropolitan Sava Brancovici of Transylvania refused to convert to Calvinism, despite pressure from Prince Apafi. He was imprisoned in chains for years in Fagaras Citadel, enduring hunger and cold. Even in captivity, Sava continued to secretly perform ordinations, bless faithful, and encourage his flock to hold fast to the Orthodox faith. His steadfast resistance became a symbol of resilience against religious oppression.
O Holy #Confessor Sava, intercede before God for the salvation and protection of our souls. May your courage inspire us to defend our #OrthodoxFaith, through #Prayer.
