St. Nicander and Marcian, Roman soldiers under Emperor Maximian, witnessed the unwavering faith of martyrs. Moved by their courage, they questioned their own beliefs and sought out a presbyter named Ermei, who instructed and baptized them. Boldly proclaiming their Christianity, they were arrested, tortured, and ultimately beheaded for refusing to renounce Christ.
