Venerable Anthony of Iezeru, a shepherd turned monk in 17th-century Romania, sought deeper communion with God. He carved a cell into a rock face at the Iezeru Monastery, dedicating himself to prayer and fasting. His sanctity drew others, and he reluctantly accepted ordination, becoming a spiritual guide. During times of trouble, he aided those in need with love, healing, and wisdom.
