Born Gheorghe Țepelea in 1934, Ghelasie experienced communist prisons for his faith. Released, he became a monk at Râmeț Monastery. Despite Securitate surveillance, he revitalized monastic life, emphasizing prayer and spiritual guidance. After 1989, he played a key role in restoring churches and promoting #Orthodox education.
