During a military festival under Emperor Maximian in Durostorum, Saint Dassie, a Roman soldier, refused to participate in the pagan rituals honoring the sun god. He declared himself a Christian, proclaiming his allegiance to Christ, the true God. Despite threats and enticements, Dassie remained steadfast in his faith. He was sentenced to be beheaded. Before his execution, he rejoiced in the opportunity to die for Christ. His courage led to the conversion of other soldiers.
