Hieromartyr Irineu, Bishop of Sirmium, refused to offer pagan sacrifices, proclaiming: "I am a Christian; I worship Christ." Emperor Probus commanded Irineu to be tortured and beheaded in 304 A.D. While in prison, he converted many to Christianity through his teachings and miracles. He was a staunch defender of the faith, choosing martyrdom over denying Christ. Let us pray to #Irineu to inspire unwavering faith and courage in us.
