St. Andrew, brother of St. Peter, was called by Jesus to be an Apostle. Before that, he was a disciple of John the Baptist. Andrew introduced Peter to Christ, saying, "We have found the Messiah!" After Pentecost, Andrew preached the Gospel around the Black Sea, in modern-day Romania and Ukraine, and was martyred in Patras, Greece, crucified on an X-shaped cross.
