Born in Epivat, Thrace, to pious parents, Saint Paraschiva displayed compassion from a young age, giving away her clothes to the poor. Upon her parents' death, she joined a monastery near Constantinople, then sought a solitary life. After years of asceticism, an angel instructed her to return to her homeland. She lived a life of fasting and prayer, and upon her death, her relics were found incorrupt, emanating a sweet fragrance. Many miracles have been attributed to her intercession, making her a beloved saint, especially in Romania.
