In the 3rd century, during Diocletian's persecution, Montanus, a priest, and Maxima, his wife, stood firm in their faith. Arrested for refusing to offer sacrifices to pagan gods, they endured torture and imprisonment. Offered freedom if they renounced Christ, they refused, inspiring many with their steadfastness. Finally, they were drowned at Singidunum (Belgrade), becoming martyrs for their unwavering devotion.
