Ghelasie, a monk from Râmeț Monastery, lived ascetically, dedicated to prayer and obedience. The Communist regime arrested him in 1958, accusing him of anti-state activities. He endured torture and imprisonment for six years, never renouncing his faith. Released in 1964, he returned to Râmeț, continuing his monastic life in secret, becoming a beacon of hope during dark times. After the 1989 revolution, he was appointed Archbishop of Transylvania, where he served until his death in 2014, leaving a legacy of resilience and unwavering faith.
Lord, may the prayers of Archbishop Ghelasie guide us!
