Saints Nicander and Marcian, soldiers under Emperor Maximian, witnessed the unwavering faith of Saint Mark the Martyr, and were moved to embrace Christianity. Inspired by Mark's courage in the face of torture, they confessed their belief in Christ. Abandoning their military posts and worldly possessions, they dedicated themselves to burying the bodies of martyred Christians. For their faith and acts of mercy, they were arrested, tortured, and ultimately beheaded.
