On this day, we commemorate Saint Venerable Martyr Gherasim of Tismana!

Born in Vrancea, Romania, Gherasim entered monastic life at an early age. As abbot of Tismana Monastery, he stood firm against Catholic proselytism during a time of religious tension. Arrested by the Austrian authorities for his unwavering defense of the Orthodox faith, he was imprisoned and subjected to torture, enduring beatings and starvation. Refusing to renounce Orthodoxy, he was eventually martyred. His steadfast faith and sacrifice made him a beacon of resistance and devotion.
