Saint Andrew, brother of Simon Peter, was called first by Jesus. A fisherman, he left all to follow Christ. He preached throughout Scythia, modern-day Romania, and Greece, establishing churches and converting many. Tradition holds he was crucified in Patras on an X-shaped cross, now known as St. Andrew's Cross, because he felt unworthy to die on the same type of cross as Jesus.
