Ermil, a deacon, and Stratonic, a prison guard, were martyred for their Christian faith in 315 AD. Ermil openly confessed his belief in Christ, refusing to deny Him despite severe torture. Stratonic, secretly a Christian, wept openly at Ermil's suffering, revealing his own faith. Both were condemned; Stratonic was drowned in the river, and Ermil was beheaded.
