Venerable Anthony of Iezeru, born in the early 17th century, initially pursued a secular life, marrying and serving as a village priest. However, consumed by a profound spiritual awakening, he secretly left his family to seek monastic solitude at Iezeru Monastery. There, he excelled in asceticism, prayer, and the copying of manuscripts. His deep humility and wisdom drew many to him for guidance. He eventually became the abbot and later retreated into a cave near the monastery, dedicating himself to ceaseless prayer and contemplation until his death.
