In Bucharest, after Fr. Ilie's death, his body was moved several times. Once, when exhumed, his relics emitted a beautiful fragrance and appeared incorrupt, leading many to believe in his sanctity. People started praying to him for healing and help, reporting miracles attributed to his intercession. He was canonized as a Saint by the Romanian Orthodox Church in 2002.
