Dissatisfied with the superficiality he encountered, he fervently prayed for a true spiritual father. His prayers were answered when he met a humble hermit, who initiated him into the practice of the Jesus Prayer. This encounter ignited a lifelong devotion to prayer and the hesychastic tradition, which Paisios later revived and propagated throughout the #Orthodox world.
