Venerable Daniel, in his youth, entered a monastery. Seeking greater solitude, he retreated to a remote cell carved into a rock. Prince Stephen the Great, facing dire circumstances before a crucial battle, sought Daniel’s counsel. The venerable hermit, gifted with prophecy, encouraged him to fight, promising victory if Stephen would build a church in thanksgiving. Stephen won the battle and fulfilled his vow, erecting the Putna Monastery. Venerable Daniel continued to guide and intercede for the faithful until his blessed repose.
