Martyr John, a merchant of Trebizond, was traveling when his faith was questioned by a Venetian. John openly confessed Christ. Enraged, the Venetian had him beaten mercilessly until nearly dead, then delivered him to the city's governor, who was a Tatar. The governor tortured John, trying to force him to renounce Christ, but John remained steadfast. In a final act of barbarity, John was tied to a horse and dragged through the streets until he was beheaded. His body was then burned. Oh, Saint John, pray to God for us and guide us toward unwavering faith. #Saints #OrthodoxChristian #Martyr #Faith #Prayer
