Joseph, born in Macedonia, felt a divine call early in life. He became a monk at Partoș Monastery. Known for his humility and wisdom, he was later chosen as the Metropolitan of Timișoara. During a plague, he tirelessly ministered to the sick and dying, offering comfort and aid without fear for his own life. He rebuilt churches and strengthened the faith in his diocese until his death.
