A simple peasant, Dimitrie lived a life of humility in Basarabi. After his death, during a storm his body was revealed incorrupt near the river. Many tried to move his relics, but only two oxen were able to move the relics to the village. His relics were later moved to Bucharest, where he is venerated as a protector of the city.
