Montanus, a priest, and Maxima, his wife, lived during Emperor Diocletian's reign. Ordered to renounce their faith, they refused. Maxima watched Montanus endure brutal tortures, remaining steadfast. When it was her turn, she, too, refused to deny Christ. Both were drowned at Sirmium for their unwavering devotion.
