Joseph, born into a pious family in Macedonia, felt a deep call to monastic life early on. After years of ascetic struggle at the Holy Mountain, he became known for his wisdom & humility. Called to serve as Metropolitan of Timișoara, he initially resisted, feeling unworthy. He reluctantly accepted, guided by obedience & love for his flock. During a plague, he ministered tirelessly to the sick, offering comfort & risking his own life. He rebuilt churches, cared for the poor, and taught the faith with fervor until his death in 1656.
