Ermil, a deacon, and Stratonic, a guard, were martyred for their faith in Singidunum (Belgrade). Ermil was openly Christian, while Stratonic secretly believed. When Ermil refused to sacrifice to idols, he was brutally tortured. Stratonic, witnessing Ermil's suffering, couldn't bear it and confessed his faith. Both were condemned. Stratonic was drowned in the Danube after a tearful farewell to his family. Ermil was beheaded.
