Calinic of Cernica, born in Bucharest in 1787, felt a deep calling to monastic life early on. Despite initial family resistance, he entered Cernica Monastery at 19. His spiritual prowess quickly shone, leading to his ordination and eventual election as Abbot. A true shepherd, he restored the monastery, emphasizing education and spiritual growth. He later became Bishop of Râmnic, where he continued his work, building churches and caring for the poor.
