During communist times, Bishop Bretanion of Tomis, then a young priest, was secretly told to administer communion to a woman dying in the hospital. The doctors, staunch atheists, forbade any religious rituals. Disguised as a doctor, Bretanion entered her room, gave her the Eucharist, and shortly after, she passed away peacefully. Bretanion left, undetected.
