In 1760, during a time of religious persecution against Orthodox Christians in Transylvania, Martyr Oprea of Săliştea stood firm in his faith. Ordered to renounce Orthodoxy and embrace Catholicism, he refused, despite threats and torture. He openly confessed his belief in the Orthodox Christian faith. For his unwavering devotion, he was imprisoned and ultimately martyred. His sacrifice became a symbol of resistance against religious oppression.
