Confessor Sava Brancovici, Metropolitan of Ardeal, stood firm against the Calvinist Prince Apafi's pressures to convert the Orthodox Romanians. In 1683, Sava was imprisoned, his property seized, and he was relentlessly pressured to abandon his faith. Despite immense suffering, including starvation and humiliation, Sava refused to renounce Orthodoxy. His steadfastness inspired the faithful and preserved the Orthodox Church in Transylvania.
