During the reign of Emperor Maximian, Saint Emilian of Durostor, a humble baker, refused to offer sacrifices to the pagan gods. When authorities demanded he worship idols, he boldly declared his faith in Jesus Christ. For this, he was cruelly tortured, enduring beatings and fire.
