John Cassian, born in Roman Dacia, journeyed to the Egyptian desert with his friend Germanus, seeking wisdom from the desert fathers. After years of ascetic life, he was ordained a deacon and later a priest. Exiled from Constantinople, he founded monasteries in Marseilles, bringing Eastern monastic traditions to the West. He wrote "Institutes" and "Conferences," guiding monks toward spiritual perfection. His teachings on overcoming the eight evil thoughts became foundational for Western monasticism.

O, Venerable #JohnCassian, intercede for us that we may find the path to holiness.
