Despite facing initial resistance from his family, he embraced the ascetic life at Căldărușani Monastery, becoming a monk in 1750. His spiritual prowess drew many disciples, leading him and his mentor, Paisie Velicicovschi, to Cernica Monastery in 1763. There, they transformed the monastery into a vibrant spiritual center, emphasizing liturgical precision and inner contemplation. George, known for his meekness and profound understanding of patristic texts, guided countless souls towards spiritual perfection until his death in 1806.
