Epictet, a priest, and Astion, his disciple, fearlessly preached Christ in Scythia Minor (present-day Dobrogea, Romania). Arrested for their faith by local authorities, they refused to renounce Christ, enduring brutal tortures. Despite attempts to sway them with promises and threats, they remained steadfast. The judge, exasperated, ordered their beheading. Even facing death, they prayed for their persecutors. Their unwavering faith led to conversions, and they were executed, becoming martyrs for Christ.

Lord, by the prayers of Your holy martyrs Epictet and Astion, have mercy on us and save us.
