In the Roman province of Scythia, now modern Romania, lived Epictetus, a priest, and Astion, his disciple. Arrested for their Christian faith, they were brought before the local authorities. Despite facing torture and pressure to renounce Christ, they remained steadfast. Their unwavering faith impressed many, even converting some of their persecutors. They were ultimately beheaded for refusing to sacrifice to pagan gods, becoming martyrs for their devotion.
