Ermil, a deacon, and Stratonic, a prison guard, were martyred for their faith in Singidunum (Belgrade) during Licinius' reign. Ermil was tortured for confessing Christianity, while Stratonic, secretly a Christian, wept openly at Ermil's suffering, revealing his own faith. Both were then tortured and drowned in the Danube River.
