Venerable Dimitrie lived as a simple shepherd, dedicated to prayer and kindness. After his death, during a Tatar invasion, his relics were discovered incorrupt near the village of Basarabi. Placed in a small church, they remained there until 1774 when, during the Russo-Turkish War, his relics were moved to Bucharest to protect them from desecration. Now, Saint Dimitrie rests in the Metropolitan Cathedral, a beacon of hope for the city.

O, Venerable Dimitrie, intercede for us before the throne of God, that we may find mercy and strength in our trials.
