Hieromartyr Irineu, Bishop of Sirmium, stood firm in his faith when Emperor Maximian demanded he offer sacrifices to pagan gods. Irineu refused, proclaiming Christ as the only true God. Despite threats and tortures, his resolve never wavered. He was beheaded for his beliefs in 304 AD. Let us pray to Irineu, that he intercede for us, to have the strength to always defend the Holy church and the true faith, to always worship the only Lord!
