Martyr Nicander, a Roman military commander, and Marcian, his subordinate, were converted to Christianity by Hermolaus, a priest. Moved by their faith, they began to openly profess Christ and bury the bodies of martyred Christians. Arrested for their beliefs during the reign of Maximian, they refused to renounce their faith even under torture. Ultimately, they were beheaded for their unwavering devotion.
