Niphon, a monk from Mount Athos, reluctantly accepted the patriarchal throne of Constantinople. His tenure was marked by strict adherence to church canons and fearless condemnation of moral corruption among the ruling class, including the Emperor. Refusing to compromise his principles, he eventually resigned, returning to his beloved monastic life in Athos. Pray that we find such unwavering strength in our convictions.
