In Bucharest, after Fr. Ilie's death, his body was moved several times. Each time, people noticed the coffin was unusually heavy and emanated a sweet fragrance. When his relics were exhumed in 1998, his body was incorrupt. His relics now rest at the church of Saint George the New, New Kilometre neighborhood, Bucharest, Romania, offering solace and healing to pilgrims.
