Saint Dassie, a Roman soldier during Diocletian's reign, was stationed in Durostorum (present-day Silistra, Bulgaria). During the local military festival of Saturnalia, Dassie refused to participate in the pagan rituals, declaring himself a Christian. For his refusal to worship the Roman gods and his steadfast faith in Christ, he was subjected to torture and ultimately beheaded on November 20, 304 AD. His unwavering conviction serves as an example of courage and devotion.

O Holy Dassie, pray that we may stand firm in our beliefs, and show us the path to unwavering commitment!
