In the year 372, during a time of persecution, the Goth chieftain, a pagan, demanded that Martyr Sava of Buzău and other Christians offer sacrifices to idols. Sava refused, boldly proclaiming his faith in Jesus Christ. Enraged, the chieftain subjected Sava to tortures, yet Sava remained steadfast. Finally, they drowned him in the Buzău River.
