On August 15, 1714, Prince Constantin Brâncoveanu of Wallachia and his four sons—Constantin, Stephen, Radu, and Matthew—were martyred in Constantinople. Offered the chance to save their lives by converting to Islam, they refused. Constantin, the ruler, encouraged his sons to remain steadfast in their Christian faith, even as he witnessed their beheadings. After his sons were killed, Constantin was also beheaded. Their unwavering commitment to Christ moved many to embrace the Orthodox faith. Let us pray for their intercession, that we may also stand firm in our beliefs.
