In the Roman era, Hermes, a Greek lector in Dalmatia, was arrested for his unwavering faith. Despite torture, he refused to renounce Christ. Thrown into prison, he converted 40 fellow inmates. Brought before authorities again, he remained steadfast. Finally, he was beheaded around 304 A.D. His courage led many to embrace Christianity.
