In the twilight years of communism, Bishop Bretanion of Tomis, a beacon of faith in Romania, faced relentless persecution. The Securitate, the secret police, targeted him, attempting to silence his sermons and intimidate his flock. Yet, Bretanion stood firm, his spirit unbroken. One Easter, despite strict surveillance, he led a clandestine midnight service on the Black Sea shore. Hundreds gathered in the darkness, their voices rising in defiant hymns that echoed across the water, a testament to their unwavering belief. He was arrested soon after that service.
Lord, may Bretanion's example ignite our hearts with courage and unwavering faith.
