Venerable Paraschiva, born in Epivat, near Constantinople, showed compassion early, giving clothes to the poor. After her parents' death, she sought monastic life in a monastery near Heraclea Pontica, then journeyed to Jerusalem to venerate holy sites. Guided by divine vision, she returned to her homeland, living as an ascetic in the village of Kalikratia, near Constantinople, until her death. Her relics, known for miraculous healings, are venerated in Iași, Romania, since 1641.
