Hieromartyr Irineu, Bishop of Sirmium, refused to offer pagan sacrifices despite Emperor Probus's orders. He staunchly confessed Christ, enduring imprisonment and torture. When promised honors for compliance, he declared his allegiance to God. Irineu was ultimately beheaded in 304 AD for his unwavering faith.
